St. Joseph middle school students recently completed a pop bottle rocket launch as part of the Future Scientists and Engineers of America (FSEA) extracurricular program. FSEA is a national program that involves real-world application projects that help relate the importance of education to future career possibilities. St.Joseph is fortunate to have parent volunteer, John Pacha, advisingthe students. In a series of six lessons, the students learned how toconstruct air-powered bottle rockets, reviewed launch safety, tested their devices, and then repaired and/or modified therockets as necessary. The students didn't let a few sprinklesdampen their spirits or the friendly competition on the final launch day.
