Congratulations!

Tonight was opening night of our annual musical, and I can say it was a smashing success!  As a former music teacher, one of my favorite activities was the annual production.  There is nothing quite like seeing the transformation that takes place over the course of several weeks.  The transformation of a script into a living, breathing show.  The lights, the drama, and the costumes all add to the excitement that was certainly felt backstage as the lights dimmed before the opening overture.

I can distinctly remember my days of musical production, from those early rehearsals when we were tripping over each other on stage, to forgotten lines, and to wondering if we would ever make it in time for the opening.  It is magical!  I can still remember the final curtain call of my last show.

There are few student activities in schools that bring such a vast and diverse group of talents than a school's musical production.  Artists, musicians, actors, carpenters, electricians, stage hands, make-up artists, seamstresses, and the list goes on.  Without everyone doing their assigned tasks flawlessly, we would not know success.

Two nights remain in this wonderful production of Annie.  If you haven't had a chance to see it yet, I strongly encourage you to do so.  We have a tremendously talented group of young people who have poured their hearts and souls into producing for you an entertaining and fun filled show.  Go and see it!

To Mrs. Bluml, I thank you for your hard work and dedication that was necessary.  To all the teachers and volunteers who helped with the costumes, scenery, and props, thank you.  We couldn't have done it without you!  And finally, to our student actors, actresses, and stage hands.  Congratulations, I am very proud of you all.
