SJW #15, December 10, 2009
Living the Gospel through Positive Behavior Supports-On Monday, November 30th, the students at St. Joseph Catholic School began the school-wide implementation of PBS. The students are living the Gospel by Respecting Ourselves, Respecting Others, and Respecting our Environment. During this prayer assembly, scripture was borrowed from 1 Peter 3: 8-12 of the New Testament.
Will the Kids Be Outside for Recess Tomorrow?
If the combined wind chill factor and air temperature is below zero, then the children will stay indoors. Anytime it is zero and above you can count on them going outside. It is absolutely critical that the students have appropriate winter weather clothes suitable for cold Iowa weather, middle school students included. Check out my blog for more details on outdoor recess.
Congratulations St. Joseph Alumni Students!
Colin O’Connor (Receiver, St. Joe's grad) was selected 4A 1st Team by the INA and 4A 2nd Team by the Register. The following Saints won their first wrestling match of the season; Braxton Chicchelly, Peter Ickes (St. Joe's grad.), David Ryberg & Josh McDonald. Peter also took second place at the Independence Tournament on Sat.
Major Faith to Perform Friday morning on KGAN CBS2!
The St. Joseph Catholic School 3-5 grade choir "Major Faith" will perform on Friday morning at 6:30 on KGAN CBS2. This performance is part of the station's drive-through toy drive for Toys for Tots. Our school participates in this toy drive annually in an effort to provide toys for children who may not otherwise receive them during this holiday season. We had our gift Mass on Tuesday during the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, but if you would still like to drop off your new toys to school, please feel free to do so.
Want to Help Thousands of Families While Saving Money?
Would you be willing to assist a current or potential Catholic school student with their educational expenses, while significantly reducing your 2008 Iowa income taxes? If you file an Iowa state income tax return you can contribute to the Our Faith, Our Children, Our Future School Tuition Organization and receive a 65% tax credit. That means for every $100 you donate, you receive an Iowa income tax credit of $65, plus the entire amount of the gift is eligible for federal deductibility. No student should be denied a Catholic education because of the inability to pay. Please consider using this incredible opportunity to make a difference in a child's future. All donations must be postmarked by December 31st in order to qualify for the tax credit in 2009. Visit www.OurFaithSTO.org or call 563-556-2580 ext 256 for more information or to make your contribution. Make a difference for you and the families who wish a Catholic education for their children.

Therefore, our band and choir concert that was scheduled for tonight has been postponed until next Thursday. This will cause change in our previously scheduled concert for K-5. Please note these time adjustments:
Christmas Concert December 17th
